Quality Schools in Hong Kong Programme

“Quality Schools in Hong Kong” Programme (2016-2019)

Our school has been given the privilege of being selected as one of the five secondary schools in Hong Kong to participate in a three-year programme under the “Quality Schools Improvement Program (QSIP)” organised by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Under the patronage of The D. H. Chen Foundation, The Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation, as well as an annual investment of $50,000 HKD from the school, this programme aims to collaborate with various Trusts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and non-government organisations to improve all aspects of our school and to provide higher quality of education to students.

During the 2016-2019 school years, our school will work closely with representatives from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and implement three aspects of improvement to provide holistic education to our students:

1. Learning and Teaching
Using “Self-directed learning” as the focal point of teaching, the school aims to combine the professional support provided by The Chinese University of Hong Kong and co-operation from our teachers to improve existing curriculum, pedagogy and methods of evaluation. The ultimate goal is to encourage students to become self-directed learners with well-developed critical thinking and creativity skills.

2. Learning Through Society and Community Service
Aside from improving our school’s existing social service activities, we will incorporate new forms of experiential learning. The aim is to further promote a sense of care within our community, as well as contributing to both the school and society through physical means.

3. Physical Education and Artistic Development
With the aim of providing a wide variety of artistic and sports related learning experiences, we expect our students to nurture a sense of appreciation for the arts, cultural refinement, as well as improved physical fitness and the development of life-long interest towards sports.

4. Featured Activities
1. Musical: "The Sound of Music"
2. A Red Red Rose (Chorai Concert)
3. Cross-curricular Exhibition: The Lost Treasures of Persia
4. Bishop Hall Junior Scientists
5. Joint School Leadership Training Camp
