Poet of the School 2016-17 - Thomas Wong (3E)
This year, some of our 2E and 3E students submitted their poetry to a competition entitled “Hong Kong Budding Poets” organized by The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education. Although all students in 3E and some students in 2E submitted work, each school was only allowed to submit a total of 20 entries. Our school chose 10 poems from 2E and 10 from 3E. The contest attracted over 1000 entries from many EMI schools across Hong Kong. In the end, one of our form 3E students, Wong Kwong Hin, Thomas, was chosen as one of the 20 finalists. How exciting for Thomas and the school! Thomas had to go to a preliminary session and then the winners were announced. Thomas ranked 11th out of 20 schools, which is such an accomplishment and we are very proud of his efforts. Thomas wrote a poem on POVERTY and he received a Commendation Certificate and “Best Poet of the School” award from the HKAGE. He was also invited to register for extended tutorial summer courses in the “gifted programme” in Humanities for the summer, but Thomas will be leaving us to move to Canada. We wish him well in his future endeavours and we hope he continues to use his creative prowess! All the best, Thomas – we will miss you!
