Application for Secondary One Discretionary Places (2008/2010)
[A] Application Procedure
1. Application forms are available from 27th November 2009 to 25th January 2010.
2. Application forms can be obtained in the following ways:
i. In person
Office hours:
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
School holidays 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
(School is closed on Sundays and all public holidays.)
ii. Download from our school website
3. Please submit the application form to the General Office in person between
4th and 25th January 2010, during office hours, together with the following
documents:

the School’s Copy, the EDB’s Copy and the Parent’s Copy of the ‘Application Form for S1 Discretionary Place’ issued by the EDB

ii.
|
original copy of the applicant’s identity document (e.g. the birth certificate / identity card / passport) [for verification]
|
|
iii.
|
photocopies of P5 & P6 school reports^
|
|
iv.
|
photocopies of certificates of prizes and awards* (original copies are not necessary and will not be accepted)
|
|
v.
|
a self-addressed stamped envelope with student’s name printed on it
|
|

Copies of P6 exam results should reach the school on or before 29th January, 2010 by hand or by mail if they are not ready on the day of submission. Please write the applicant’s name, student reference number and application number (to be provided by the school after submitting the application form) on the top right-hand corner of the documents.

Please use A4 size paper for photocopies. The documents submitted will not be returned. Applicants are not required to submit any recommendation letters. Please get back the stamped Parent’s Copy of the Application Form for S1 Discretionary Place and the “Application Registration Slip” after submission.

Note: Applicants may apply to not more than two secondary schools
participating in the Secondary School Places for Allocation System.

[C] Interview
1. The selection criteria for interview are as follows:

Short-listed applicants will receive a letter of invitation to attend an interview before 26th March, 2010. The shortlist (indicating the application numbers) will be posted on the school website (http://www.bhjs.edu.hk) before 26th March, 2010. The interview is scheduled for Saturday, 10th April, 2010.

An individual interview will be conducted in both Cantonese and English. Students' abilities, such as their command of Chinese and English, critical thinking skills, communication skills, comprehension power, social awareness, etc, and their attitude will be assessed in the interview.

[E] Release of Results
The results of S1 Discretionary Places will be released on 6th July 2010 together with the Central Allocation results. Parents need not make enquiries to our school before the announcement of the results.
Note: The information collected on this form will be used for the purpose of processing S1 Discretionary Places applications only.

3. 請於2010年1月4日至25日，在辦公時間內把填妥之申請表，連同以下文件一
併親自送交本校二樓校務處：

申請人的身份證明文件 (例如出世紙、身份證、護照)正本 [以核實申請表上電腦預印的資料]

小五、小六學校成績表影印本^

各項證明文件之影印本* (不收正本)

貼有$1.4郵票之回郵信封一個(請註明申請人的姓名)

呈交申請表時，倘仍未有小六成績表，可於2010年1月29日或之前親身或郵寄補交。補交時請在影印本之右上角寫上申請人姓名、學生編號及申請編號(此編號將於遞交申請表時由本校編配)。

請以A4紙複印各項文件。所有繳交之文件將不會退還。申請人無須呈交推薦信。遞交表格後請取回已蓋本校校印之「家長存根」及「確認申請存根」。

2. 面試日期訂於2010年4月10日(星期六)。獲邀面試學生將於2010年3月26日前接獲專函通知。申請人亦可於3月26日前自行登入本校網頁(www.bhjs.edu.hk)查閱面試名單(只公佈申請編號)。
3. 面試將以個人形式進行，考生須以粵語及英語應試。主要考核學生各方面的能力，包括：學生中、英文能力、思維能力、溝通能力、理解能力、社交能力及一般應對態度等。
