Stepping into Wah Fu Estate: BHJS Interact Club Field Trip for Community
2026-11-06

On 2 November, four student members of our Interact Club visited Wah Fu Estate for a field study and oral history interview. The visit serves as the creative foundation for an upcoming original community drama, which the team will perform for senior residents at a Wah Fu elderly care home in early December.

*First-hand Housing Memories: In Conversation with Wah Fu (II) Resident*

The students met with a resident who has lived in Wah Fu since childhood and moved into Wah Fu (II) Estate when it was first completed. Sitting together at neighbourhood eatery, the students listened to her personal accounts of growing up in the estate, navigating decades of neighbourhood changes, and experiencing daily estate life. These genuine stories provided rich and grounded material for the students' upcoming scriptwriting.

*Visiting Wah King House: Exploring the Twin-Tower Lightwell*

Following the interview, the resident guided the students through Wah King House, the traditional Twin-Tower block where she spent her formative years. Looking up through the building's iconic central open-air atrium, the students observed how the spatial layout shaped community interaction in older estates. Walking along the corridors, she shared everyday memories and childhood moments, helping students understand how architecture and daily lives intersected.

*Preparing for the Stage: Bringing Real Stories to the Care Home*

This field visit provides our students with authentic local perspectives ahead of the estate's planned redevelopment. The team is now integrating these memories into their script, gearing up for their performance at the local elderly centre in early December to share these community stories back with neighbourhood elders.
