Henry Hung (5E) Wins the Hong Kong Outstanding Students Award (HKEJ / Sing Tao Daily)

Hung Tat-hang Henry of 5E, one of the winners of Hong Kong Outstanding Students Award this year, was interviewed by Sing Tao Daily and Hong Kong Economic Journal.

Henry Hung used to be a trouble making student who once lifted a chair above his head as if he was about to throw it at the teacher. Luckily, he refrained. He constantly argued with teachers and threw tantrums at others when he was being ignored and treated unfairly. His bad temper and negativity made him a loner in Form one. The turning point came when his Chinese teacher encouraged him to participate in an external competition, in which he had the chance to make a video with other students. The filming process developed their friendship and he finally felt the support of his classmates.

He always has a passion for reading Chinese classics and the experience of holding reading activities across the school blazed trails for him ultimately becoming the chairperson of Student Union. The journey leading the student organization expanded his horizons and made him broad-minded to accept different opinions and criticisms. He believes the young people today embrace change and strive to make Hong Kong a better place to live.
