Our school's Biology Department recently arranged for selected Form 5 students to participate in an engaging Genetic Engineering Workshop, hosted by The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups – Creative Education Unit.
In the workshop, the students transformed into science detective, learning to identify genetically modified foods. They gained invaluable hands-on experience detecting GM foods, which not only deepened their understanding of gene expression and biotechnology but also provided in-depth learning of key biological principles such as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and gel electrophoresis.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the workshop's activities, building their practical skills and expanding their scientific knowledge. We believe this experience will lay a solid foundation for their future learning and development in the dynamic field of biotechnology.
