Finding Our Roots in Chang'an, Dreaming of the Future: Xi'an Cultural Exchange Tour
2026-07-13

To help students learn more about Chinese history and culture, see the country's new technology, and make friends with local youth, 40 students from Secondary 3 to Secondary 5 went on a 5-day, 4-night "Xi'an Cultural Exchange Tour" from June 30 to July 4. With curiosity and a love for learning, the students visited this famous ancient city and brought home a lot of knowledge and great friendships.

This trip felt like travelling through time. Teachers and students visited the Shaanxi History Museum. Everyone was amazed by the beautiful bronze items from the Shang and Zhou dynasties and the colourful pottery from the Tang dynasty. After that, they went to the Tang Market Museum. This museum was built on the real old market site from the Tang Dynasty. It showed students how busy and exciting the Silk Road trade used to be.

The group also visited Huaqing Palace, a beautiful place next to mountains and water. It is famous for the love story of Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei, and it is also the real place where the famous historical event, the "Xi'an Incident," happened.

Next, students went to see the Terracotta Army, which is called the "Eighth Wonder of the World." When they saw hundreds of real-looking clay soldiers standing in the huge pits, every student was shocked by the amazing skills of the people 2,000 years ago and the great power of the Qin Empire.

Besides visiting the heritage, the group also visited local technology companies. With the help of the staff, students saw how modern technology is made and used. They truly felt how fast the country is growing in technology, which made many students interested in this field.

The most important part of the trip was visiting Chang'an No. 1 High School. Jubileans had a great time talking and interacting with the local students. They shared stories about their school lives and how they study. The local teachers and students praised our Jubileans for being confident and energetic, and they became very good friends.

This Xi'an tour was not just a simple trip, but a real and fun history lesson. Jubileans did not just see new things; they also learned to think about their own future by looking at the long history of the past.
