From 18 to 25 July, three teachers and 26 students from our school embarked on an enriching eight-day environmental and cultural study tour to Fukui Prefecture, Japan.

Exploring Cultural Landmarks and Heritage

During the trip, students visited the famous Kehi Shrine, where they learned about traditional Shrine culture and custom protocols. They also explored breathtaking scenic and historical destinations, such as Tojinbo and Kumagawa-juku, gaining a deep appreciation for the region's rich natural landscapes and historical heritage.

Fostering Global Friendships at Koshi High School

A key highlight of the tour was a two-day exchange programme with Fukui Prefectural Koshi Senior High School. Our students stepped into Japanese classrooms to attend lessons and participate in cultural activities alongside their local peers. Thanks to the warm hospitality of Koshi High School's teachers and students, our group gained invaluable insights into the local educational philosophy and campus life.

Immersive Local Experiences and Artisan Crafts

Beyond school life, students participated in hands-on workshops featuring traditional craftsmanship, including sashimi processing, mochi making, Echizen washi paper crafting, and lacquerware creation. They also experienced rural Japanese life firsthand by weeding farmland and watching a summer fireworks display, offering them a unique glimpse into the daily lives of local farming and fishing communities.

The eight-day journey was a resounding success, leaving students with a much deeper understanding of Japan and Fukui. We extend our heartful gratitude to the three leading teachers for their dedication and care, which provided our students with such a memorable and rewarding learning opportunity.
